    Entry Cancellations:

  • Cancellation of entry due to a medical condition: full refund of EVENT fees, provided the CFF organizers are notified at least 48 hours prior to the event and a doctor's certificate is submitted.

12.25 PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY OF A COMPETITOR IN MORE THAN ONE EVENT
An athlete may not take part in two (2) or more events in the same day unless their participation in the initial event has concluded prior to close registration/confirmation of any subsequent event. Athletes entering multiple events on the same day, do so at their own risk, no refunds shall be provided.

EVENT FORMAT:
Cadet - one round of pools of 6-7 athletes each
- no elimination after the pools
- direct elimination tableau with no repechage
- direct elimination matches will be to 15 hits (3 periods of 3 minutes).
Junior - one round of pools of 6-7 athletes each
- based on the results of the preliminary round, 20 to 30% of the fencers will be eliminated
- the remaining qualified fencers will be placed in a direct elimination tableau, without repechage,
  up to the round of 32/16
For less than 32 qualifiers:
- direct elimination tableau of 16 with repechage
For 32 or more entrants:
- direct elimination tableau of 32 with repechage
- direct elimination matches will be to 15 hits (3 periods of 3 minutes).
Senior - one round of pools of 6-7 athletes each
- based on the results of the preliminary round, 20 to 30% of the fencers will be eliminated
- the remaining qualified fencers will be placed in a direct elimination tableau, without repechage,

Team 12.20 The format of team events shall be at the discretion of the Directoire Technique except as provided herein. Senior teams shall be of three fencers plus one alternate only, the names of whom shall be registered with the Directoire Technique at the time prescribed by the Directoire Technique for confirmation of team entries, and shall not be changed thereafter. No fencer may compete for more than one team in the same weapon, nor may any fencer compete in more than one weapon if any part or parts of competition in those weapons is scheduled to take place on the same day. At the discretion of the Branch, the Branch may be represented in each weapon either by one composite team or by one or more teams representing member club(s), each composed of fencers who are registered members of that club. More than one team per club may be entered in each weapon.
EQUIPMENT:

Mandatory for CSC/Nationals and CFF Hosted Events - Cdt/Jr/Sr/Vets (U15 Exempt):

  • 800N FIE Jacket
  • 800N FIE Pants
  • 1600N FIE Mask
  • Sous Plastron – 350N Minimum (cotton/nylon)

In previous seasons athletes were exempt from having to wear a sous plastron if the jacket was FIE approved. This exemption has been removed and sous plastrons are now mandatory.

Implementation of the M2009 Foil Mask
The CFF will implement the new Foil Bib effective for Senior National Championships 2009 and Junior / Cadet National Championships 2010. In Canada for domestic events, masks that have been retrofitted according to the FIE specifications will be allowed. Internationally, FIE rules apply. This policy does not apply to veterans or U/15 events hosted by the CFF. Adopted 9th May, 2009, revised 4th October, 2009

All remaining equipment must conform to current FIE norms.

FIE Blades are not currently required, but recommended.
