Provincial Team Tournament Information

This season the CSC's will include a Provincial Team Tournament. The Provincial Team Tournament has no registration cost associated with it, it is purely a value added component to the CSC's. This Provincial Team Tournament event will be comprised of 1 team per province, and be run as a direct elimination. The province will be responsible for registering the team (see below). The Provincial Team Tournament will be held at the three following competitions: CSC #1, CSC #2, Nationals. The cumulative points garnered by the teams will make up the result of the Tournament. The team events will be run immediately after the final of that weapon's senior event.

Method of registration and format:

• Each province will register a team captain (coach, athlete, or other person) for each weapon. The Atlantic region and the Territories will be permitted to register a regional team, due to number of competitive fencers: provided no provincial teams are registered for any given weapon. Please send the names of the team captains to Manuel Belmonte by the entry deadline (td@fencing.ca).
• On the day of the senior event, for any given weapon, the team captains will be called to register their team.
• Each team will be made up of 5 fencers: only 4 team members per encounter will compete (3 fencers + 1 alternate). At each team encounter a different team can be made up from the original 5 (e.g. encounter 1: fencers 1, 2 ,3, + 4; encounter 2:fencers 3, 5, 4, +1), This is the Commonwealth format.
• At the 1st CSC the final results will be used to seed the teams. As of the 2nd CSC the teams will be seeded by their cumulative result in the team tournament.
• We will not be fencing for every position. There will be a bout for third place.
• The Provincial Team Tournament will start immediately upon completion of the senior event for that weapon. Any team not ready to fence will be eliminated.
