Fencing Coaches of Canada presents the following Coach Sessions at CSC #2 / Senior Nationals in Ottawa:

  • Friday, November 27th, 5:00 pm (estimated time) in the gym: Maitre Jean-Marie Banos presents "A practical session for the beginner fencer, introduction to fencing skills through games" (Athletes are welcome to participate);
  • Saturday, November 28th, 5:00 pm (estimated time) in classroom: Maitre Gilbert Gelinas presents "Club development - His Way!"

The FIE is offering a Continental training program for coaches. The objective is to significantly increase the number and quality of Masters of Arms on every continent. During the 2009-2010 season, the FIE will organize courses of 2 months in length in each of the three weapons. >>more

The National Coach (NC) is directly responsible for qualifying the respective weapon for the individual and team events and preparing our athletes for podium performance at the 2012 Olympic Games. All candidates should include a CV and a letter outlining the candidate's vision to build a world class weapon program in Canada (including any pertinent analysis of the current national team, if possible). The FCC has the responsibility to select three coaches (one per weapon) from Canada to attend a one week coaching course sponsored by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO). Course and travel expenses will be covered by the USOC & PASO. Please see the attached document for details.

A coaching seminar, sponsored by the Fencing Coaches of Canada and the FEQ, was presented by Ildemaro Sanchez on Saturday, March 21 at the Eastern Canadian Fencing Championships.  The topic of the seminar was an analysis of the tactical and technical performances during the semi-finals and finals of the 2008 Olympics - English translation of presentation.

A Coach's Reflection on a Major Games is the first series of videos being provided to coaches. In the Fall of 2008 we sat down with three coaches who were in Beijing and got their perspective on the experience. Joel Filliol, Pierre Lafontaine and Mike Spracklen were in Toronto participating in "Reflection of Beijing" hosted by the Coaches Association of Ontario.
