Nick started fencing at 11 years old when he moved to Montreal under the watchful eye of his father who coaches him to this day. He loves many different things about this sport, especially competing. He enjoys traveling around the world to fight foreign opponents and show them what Canadians can do! He also appreciates the history of the sport, which goes back to the duels practiced by the Three Musketeers. Nicolas perceives fencing as distinct from any other sport for the variety of qualities it develops, such as endurance, flexibility, relaxation, self-control, stress management, sportsmanship, and dexterity to name only a few. From an early age, Nicolas has been dreaming about going to the Olympics. This summer has been particularly hard for him, as Nicolas missed to qualify for Beijing and had to watch the Games at home. Despite this disappointment, Nicolas is more motivated than ever to work hard to be in London in 2012, and be amongst the best fencers there too. A recent graduate in visual arts from the Nad Center, Nicolas is actually working as a freelance collaborator on different projects. He hopes to work in big production companies, like Ubisoft (video games) or Pixar (cinema). In his free time, he enjoys doing 3D animations on his laptop or watching Japanese cartoons. He is a fan of Japanese culture and enjoys not only the cartoons, but also the literature, the gardens and the food (especially sushis).
